Installer in the Spotlight

Installer in the Spotlight

At Vermeulen, building technologies, innovation and craftsmanship go hand in hand.

We spoke with owner and Managing Director Wouter Vermeulen and Project Engineer Tim De Coene about their vision for high-end installation technology. The family business, founded in 1984, has evolved into a leading player in the world of high-end building systems—ranging from electrical and security to HVAC and plumbing. Operating out of Wetteren, Flanders, Vermeulen works on prestigious projects throughout Belgium, the Netherlands, and beyond.

Wouter Vermeulen’s father was a pioneer in home automation, collaborating with renowned architects to integrate technology into luxury villa projects across the Benelux. His philosophy lives on: technology only reaches its full potential when it is professionally installed. This vision remains the core of the company today.

After an international career in the high-tech startup scene in California, Wouter returned to Belgium in 2020 to take over the family business. Since then, he has focused on sustainable growth, with a clear division into three segments: high-end residential construction, B2B projects, and energy solutions. Within these sectors, Vermeulen realizes high-quality installations in luxury homes, modern office environments, and sustainable energy projects.

Paxton plays a significant role in Vermeulen's projects. "We have been working with Net2 for years and are also enthusiastic about Paxton10," says Tim. "The cloud-based solutions and mobile access perfectly align with our customers' needs. Paxton's flexibility and reliability make it an ideal partner for both residential and commercial applications."

In a recent project, access control was linked to booking software in a multifunctional complex featuring an exclusive restaurant. As soon as a room is booked, the system automatically activates access. "Smart integrations like these are a vital part of the future of building management," Tim notes. "We work with open APIs and look for systems that integrate seamlessly into building management."

Wouter indicates that their strength lies in an "engineering-first" approach. Everything they design, they build and maintain themselves. "With Paxton’s support, we can offer our customers innovative and reliable solutions."

Vermeulen focuses on areas where opportunities remain and where a unique contribution can be made through smart solutions. Or, as Wouter puts it: "We are always looking for 'blue oceans': new market areas where we can truly make a difference with innovative technology."

With their focus on innovation, integration, and customer-centric solutions, Vermeulen, building technologies remains a frontrunner in the world of installation technology.
